Rider Adds Harvey

LAWRENCEVILLE--Brett Harvey has been named the assistant coach for the Rider University men's and women's cross country and track & field teams, Rider head coach Bob Hamer announced.

"I am real excited to have Brett join our staff at Rider," said Hamer, a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.  "He is a very accomplished coach and recruiter and he will be a valuable asset to our program as we continue to build a consistent quality team that can compete at a high level."

Harvey comes to Rider form Georgian Court University, where he was named the 2012 USTFCCCA Division II East Region Coach of the Year.  During his time at Georgian Court he coached 12 Division II NCAA Qualifiers, one Regional Athlete of the Year, 16 All-Region team members and 22 Conference Champions.

Harvey was the head coach of the women's track & field team since 2008 and had been tabbed to lead the women's cross country program this past fall. At Georgian Court Harvey founded the program and won Conference Outdoor Titles in 2011 and 2012 and an Indoor title in 2012.

"He did an outstanding job of building a championship program from scratch at Georgian Court and I look forward to working with him," Hamer said.

A 2004 graduate of Lafayette College, Harvey has also coached at MAAC-rival Loyola (head coach of women's track, assistant coach of men's and women's cross country) where he was the 2007 MAAC Coach of the Year and American University (assistant men and women's cross country and track & field).

"I'm very excited to join Coach Hamer and to help fulfill the vision he has for the program here at Rider,' Harvey said. "We have a lot of talent on this team and I'm looking forward to helping Coach Hamer and our athletes compete for MAAC Championships immediately."
