Final Home Dual Meet Saturday 1pm
Broncs Host CAA-Foe BU on Senior Day
LAWRENCEVILLE-The Rider wrestling team will host Colonial Athletic Association rival Boston University Saturday at 1pm. It will be the final dual meet of the season and the final time competing in Alumni Gymnasium for graduating senior Zac Cibula.
The CAA match Saturday in Alumni Gymnasium can be seen on the BroncSportsNetwork, with live video streaming on BroncVison.
Tickets can be purchased online by clicking the "TicketLeap" link in this story or in person at the ticket window in the lobby of Alumni Gymnasium. The ticket booth will open at 12 noon for Saturday's dual meet.
Rider (10-7, 3-2 CAA) is coming off a dual meet with the number one team in the nation, Penn State. Prior to that Rider won five of its previous six dual meets.
The Broncs have two wrestlers ranked first in their respective weight classes in the CAA, junior Ramon Santiago (26-7, 5-0 CAA) at 165 and freshman Ryan Wolfe (21-10, 4-1 CAA) at 184, and two ranked second with sophomore Jimmy Morris (24-10, 12-4 duals) at 133 and senior Zac Cibula (21-8, 4-1 CAA) at 157. In all, Rider has wrestlers ranked among the top four in the CAA in seven weight classes.
Boston U. (7-9, 1-4 CAA) also has seven wrestlers ranked among the top four in the 10 CAA weight classes, including the top ranked 157, Nestor Taffur (29-7, 14-1 duals, 5-0 CAA).
BU also has the third ranked wrestler at 125, 165, 184 and heavyweight.
The Terriers have lost their last five dual meets, including a 22-12 CAA lost to Drexel. Rider recently defeated Drexel 26-12.
Rider defeated BU 24-9 last season in Boston, the tenth straight win for the Broncs over the Terriers.
Rider and BU have wrestled 18 times, with Rider winning all but one, in 2001-02.
The Broncs will travel to BU March 9 for the CAA Championships.
