Rider Signs NJ Champ Stinson

LAWRENCEVILLE—Wayne Stinson of Wrightstown, NJ, a senior at Northern Burlington High School, has signed a national letter of intent to further his education and wrestling career at Rider University, associate head coach John Hangey announced.

“We are very excited to have Wayne attending Rider next year,” Hangey said.  “Wayne has established himself as one of the best wrestlers in the nation at his weight class.”

Stinson won the NJSIAA State Championship at 152 pounds this year and is currently ranked 11th in the nation in his weight class.

“Wayne has beat several top ranked wrestlers throughout his career, including the number one ranked wrestler at the Ironhorse tournament this past fall,” Hangey said.  “Winning a State title this year proved that he was capable of winning big matches in pressure situations.”

A four-time District 25 Champion and four-time Region 7 Finalist, Stinson compiled a 140-20 scholastic record with a school record 80 career falls.

“We expect Wayne to make an immediate impact in our program at either 149 or 157 pounds,” Hangey said.

Stinson, B.J. Clagon of Toms River South and J.R. Wert of Christiansburg, Virginia have given Rider the 22nd best recruiting class in the nation according to Flowrestling.com.
