LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—The Rider University men's soccer team will welcome back the student body tonight with a 7pm home game against Saint Joseph's University on the Ben Cohen Field.

“Tonight is the night before classes start so we're hoping to get some student support,” said Rider head coach Charlie Inverso.

Rider (1-0) will look to begin the season 2-0 for the first time since 1975.

The young Broncs, playing with nine newcomers in the line-up, including seven starters, began the 2013 season with a 2-1 victory over Robert Morris on Sunday.  In that game, four freshmen played key roles.  Freshman Adrien Huss (Madrid, Spain) and freshman Christian Flath (Bargeshagen, Germany) scored goals, freshman Zach Bond (Holmdel, NJ) had an assist and freshman goalkeeper Jimmy Quilter (South Brunswick, NJ) made 11 saves.

The St. Joe Hawks began the 2013 season with a 1-1 tie against Loyola.

Rider lost 3-0 at Saint Joseph's last season.  Rider and St. Joe's were East Coast Conference rivals 1974-1982. St. Joe's holds a 20-11-5 advantage in the series that began in 1963.
