Rider's Hareau MAAC Rookie of the Week

EDISON—For the second week in a row, a Rider University field hockey freshman was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week with Nicole Hareau earning the honor it was announced Monday.

Hareau (Montevideo, Uruguay/Colegio Ingles) was recognized for all games September 2-8.

In Rider's 1-1 week, Hareau scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Villanova on September 4.

The goal came with 5:10 left in regulation and allowed Rider to open the season 3-0.

Hareau also had three shots, two on goal in Rider's 3-2 loss at Brown on September 8.

Hareau leads Rider in scoring having hit the back of the cage in her first three collegiate games and she is second on the team with 16 shots and 12 shots on goal.

Rider rookie Kalyn O'Brien was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week for all games the opening week of the season.

Rider travels to Hofstra on Friday.  The 2013 home opener is September 20 at 7 p.m. against Towson at Ben Cohen Field.
