Rider at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, VA-The Broncs are competing at the Joe Agee Invitational this weekend at the Colonial Heritage Golf Club, hosted by William & Mary.

After the first day of competition in the 36-hole tournament the Broncs are in 10th place in the 11-team field. "This is the best field we've played in," said Rider head coach Bob Whartenby. "There are some solid teams here. This is our first time at this event."

Graduate student Eric LeFante (Colts Neck) led the Broncs with a 76 on the par 71 course and is in 31st place among the 62 golfers. "This is one of the toughest college courses I've seen," Whartenby said. "It is pretty wild, how undulating it is, how many hazards there are. It is really, really tough."

Rider junior Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) and junior Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass/Hopkinton) each shot a 77 and are tied for 39th. "Eric, Brent and Brian had very respectable scores on this course," Whartenby said. "They hung in there and I'm proud of them."

Wolgast shot a 40 on the front nine but came back with a 37 on the back nine." Brent had a bad start but had a great back nine," Whartenby said.

Senior Kevin Krecicki (Hamilton/Nottingham) shot an 81 and is 51st, while junior Jordan Wycoff (Fort Washington, Pa./Saint Stephen's Episcopal) added a 91.

Play continues Sunday. "Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to get some good rounds and have a respectable finish," Whartenby said.
