Carvalheira is the only Rider wrestler and only the second Rider athlete to twice earn All-America honors, placing seventh in the nation in 1997 and eighth in the nation in 1998 at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. A two-time Rider Athlete of the Year, Carvalheira was an Academic All-American and the East Coast Wrestling Association Wrestler of the Year as a senior. In four years he was 22-0 in conference dual meets, advancing to Nationals all four of his seasons.
