Placed third and earned All-America honors in 1991 at the NCAA Championships. His career mark was 101-24-1 and he was a two-time (1989-91) East Coast Conference Most Outstanding Performer. As a senior, he was 37-2, losing to the same wrestler and was 14-0 in dual meets. As a junior, he was 25-7 (13-1 in duels) and as a sophomore, he was 31-10-1. He won the University Freestyle National Championship in 1990 while "red-shirting" at Rider, finishing fourth in the World Team Trials. Twice as a Rider student, he represented the USA in international competition with Russia, including a trip to the Soviet Union. A three-time ECC Champion, he won his bout at the prestigious East-West All-Star Wrestling Match, held in front of his hometown crowd at the Palestra in Philadelphia.
