As a freshman, he tied the Rider record with five triples in 1964, and had a team-high 22 RBI and 50 total bases. He led the '65 team in RBI as a sophomore, and he led the 1966 team in hits as a junior. He finished his Rider career second in hits, was third in career batting average, third in runs scored, third in career home runs and fourth in career RBI. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs, and played one year professionally before entering the Army.
