Jack Schwerzler was the first swimmer ever in Rider history to earn four East Coast Conference Championships. He was also, the first swimmer ever to win Championships in three consecutive years. Schwerzler holds the school and pool records in the 50, 100 and 200- yard freestyles. Schwerzler was also part of the relay team that still holds the school records for the 400-yard medley relay, and the 400 and 800 yard freestyle relay. He is also a member of the team that holds the pool record for the 400-yard free style relay. Schwerzler also ranks second all time in the 500 yard freestyle, third all-time in the 1000 yard freestyle, and fifth in the 200 individual medley. Schwerzler, was named the Rider MVP twice along with winning the ECC's Most Outstanding Performer award. Schwerzler broke or re-broke 13 school and four pool records while at Rider. Schwerzler was also known for only losing four matches in four years. His greatest achievement though was at the Senior National Championships, where he was a member of the medley relay team that finished third in the country in 1990. After his senior year, Schwerzler stayed on as a student coach. That year, he helped lead the team to a 7 and 5 record along with a third place finish at the Shippensburg Relays.
