Ed Adams

Rider's first All-American soccer player, Adams was a three-sport varsity letter winner, also starting on the baseball and basketball teams. On the soccer field, the former Trenton Catholic High School star was a goalkeeper extraordinaire, making a Rider record 37 saves in one game against national power Army, a record that still stands. An All-East selection in soccer as a junior, he compiled four shutouts and a Rider best 6-2 record as a senior to earn All-America honors. Adams earned Most Improved Player honors on the basketball team, and helped the squad reach back to back national tournaments, in the NAIA in 1956 and the NCAA in 1957. In baseball Adams was the starting third baseman on four teams that compiled a record of 53-22 and won three consecutive New Jersey Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles.
