Rider Adds Luber to
Staff
LAWRENCEVILLE—Former
Penn State and Council Rock North star Ben Luber has joined the Rider
University men's basketball staff as the Director of Basketball Operations.
“We are
excited to add Ben to our staff,” said Rider head coach Tommy Dempsey. “Ben was
an outstanding player and I expect he will have a very bright future in the
coaching profession.”
Luber
graduated from Penn
State University
in 2007 ranked among the top 10 in Nittany Lion history in both assists and
steals, serving as team captain as a junior and senior. As a junior he helped PSU advance to the
National Invitation Tournament as the team's Most Improved Player. As a
freshman he was an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American selection by Street
& Smith magazine.

Luber, who also serves as a coach at the Ben
Luber Basketball
Academy after playing two seasons
professionally in Israel and
Iceland.
“I feel very fortunate to join a coaching staff that is truly passionate about
the game of basketball.”
At Council
Rock North Luber earned First Team All-State honors in 2003, setting school
records for points (1,969), assists (562) and steals (236). He led the Indians
to the Pennsylvania Sweet 16 as the Suburban One League Champions. He was twice
the Bucks County Player of the Year.
Rider won
58 games over the last three years, the most in program history, and begins the
2009-10 season at Mississippi
State November 13 and
plays the home opener November 16 against Lehigh.
