Rider's Carter Honored by the MAAC
LAWRENCEVILLE--Senior Aisley Carter (Clarksburg, Md./Walter Johnson) of the Rider University women's swimming and diving team was honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Carter was named Women's Diver of the Week for all competition January 10-16.
Carter won the one
meter (231.75) and the three meter dive (248.70) as Rider swept a
tri-meet with Loyola University Maryland and Boston College January 15.
"Aisley has been giving 110 percent in practice the last couple weeks and it has
paid off," diving coach Kristen Ceppa said. "She walked into that meet and I did not have to worry one bit
about her walking out winning both boards. If Aisley continues to dive
this well and with this confidence, she will own the MAAC conference
meet."
The Broncs defeated MAAC-rival Loyola 180-118 and the Boston College Eagles out of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) 181-117.
This is the second time this season that Carter was recognized by the MAAC having also earned Diver of the Week honors November 16, 2010.
"It is nice to see Aisley shine in her senior year," Ceppa added. "Diving in the shadow
of Rider grad and three-time NCAA qualifier Amanda (Burke), while an honor, can sometimes hide the accomplishments of the
other athletes on the team. Aisley is stepping up to the challenge of
being the only female diver and is not letting herself or the team down."
The Rider women's team competes at the Rutgers Invitational January 21-22.
