Rider Signs Seven

LAWRENCEVILLE-The Rider University men's soccer team received commitments from seven recruits for the 2012 season, head coach Charlie Inverso announced.

Sonimi Halliday of Sicklerville, Rory Duffy of Plainfield, Zach Hicks of Jackson, Bobby Kroschwitz of Kintersville, PA, James Greco of Long Valley, Tyler Morris of Montclair and Justin Veltri of Mays' Landing have all signed on with Rider for next fall.

"I am very happy with our first full recruiting class," said Inverso, who guided Rider to its first playoff victory since 2007 in his first year at Rider, "and we're not finished yet."

Halliday, a senior at Timber Creek high School, was twice named First Team All-South Jersey, leading his team to the Group III Championship Game in 2011. Halliday is a member of the Marlton Lightning Club team, helping them reach the State Cup Finals.

Duffy, a senior at St. Peter's Prep, led his high school team to a Hudson County Title and his Ironbound Strikers Club team to a New Jersey State Cup, Eastern Regional and National Super Y Championship.

Hicks, a senior at Christian Brothers Academy, led CBA to two Shore Conference Titles and to the Non-Public A State Title in 2011, with a ranking of number one in New Jersey and number four in the nation. He played for the NJSA 04 Club team, which won a National Championship in 2008.

Kroschwitz, a senior at Palisades High School, was a First Team All-State selection who scored 82 goals as a four-year starter. He also started two years on the US Academy team Player Development Academy.

Greco, a senior at West Morris High School, was a First Team All-Morris county selection and was a starter for the New Jersey ODP. He played on the U-18 US Academy team as well as the Player Development Academy.

Morris, a senior at Montclair High School, was a Third Team All-State defender who plays for the Match Fit Academy. "Tyler is very fast and has good blood lines," Inverso said of Morris, the son of former Green Bay Packer Larry Morris and the nephew of former Washington Redskin Jamie and former NY Giant Joe Morris.

Veltri, a senior at Oakcrest High School, was a member of the New Jersey ODP State Team, the Region I ODP Select team and played for the Vineland Club team.  A first Team All-Cape Atlantic selection in track & field (400 meters), he is the younger brother of Rider soccer player Matt Veltri.

"All of the committed players are skillful, hard-working guys who know how to win and are very good students," Inverso said. "I think they can all make immediate, significant contributions to help us become a winning team."
