Men's College Tennis
Monmouth University 7, Rider University 0
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University men's tennis team was swept in a non-conference match against Monmouth University Thursday afternoon.
“We had good weather, the nicest day all spring,” said head coach Ed Torres. “We were missing our number one player due to illness and everyone had to move up a slot. The guys played steady but Monmouth had more experience.”
For Rider, seniors Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional) and Mike Gershon (East Brunswick) each won five games at second and fifth singles respectively before losing in straight sets.
“Within the matches, there were a lot of good points, just not enough to win,” Torres added.
The Rider men travel to Lafayette Saturday.
