Rider Athlete of the Month for May

Track's Coleman, Hightower

LAWRENCEVILLE—Two members of the Rider University track & field team, La'tazah Coleman and David Hightower, were named the Rider Athletes of the Month for May.

Coleman, a freshman from Middletown, Del., won the 100m dash, the 200m dash and ran on the winning 4 x 100m relay at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships, leading Rider to the women's team Championship.

Hightower, a senior from Easton, PA, earned All-East honors and qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the 110m hurdles.

At the NCAA Regional he broke the Rider record that stood for 25 years, finishing the preliminary round in a time of 13.93.

At the MAAC Championships Hightower won the 110 hurdles in a MAAC Meet record, and ran on the winning 4 x 100 relay to help Rider win the men's team Championship.

Coleman set three Rider outdoor records as a rookie and was also second in the MAAC in the high jump and seventh in the 100m hurdles. She qualified for the ECAC Championships in three events.
