Rider at IC4A/ECAC Championships - Day Two
Hightower / Burroughs Advance to 110m hurdle finals
PRINCETON--Several members of the Rider University men's and women's track and field teams are competing at the 136th IC4A and the 29th ECAC Outdoor Track and Field championships, hosted by Princeton University.
On Saturday for the Broncs, junior David Hightower (Easton, Pa./Easton) advanced to the finals of the 110 meter hurdles with a seventh place finish in the preliminary heat with a time of 14.32. The finals will be on Sunday.
Junior James Burroughs (West Orange) also advanced to the 110 meter hurdle finals with a time of 14.36, placing eighth. Burroughs also competed in the 400 meter hurdles, placing ninth with a time of 52.76.
"David and James have been consistent for us all year," said head coach Bob Hamer who saw two runners (Michael Soroko and Anthony Dentino) earn All-East honors on Friday night with Soroko qualifying for the NCAA 1st/2nd round in Florida in two weeks. "They were rewarded for their efforts and we are all excited that they made the finals. We are looking for them to place high up in the race on Sunday."
Also for the Broncs on Saturday, sophomore Steven Brown (Penns Grove) was 16th in the long jump (7.21m), sophomore George Osti (Union) was 19th in the hammer throw (50.98m), sophomore Treasure Burke (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) placed 20th in the hammer throw (48.06m), junior Mia Riley (West Caldwell/James Caldwell) was 22nd in the 100 meter dash (12.35) and junior Greg Wesh (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) finished 25th in the 800 meter (1:52.92).
Senior Ron Moore (Nashville, Tenn./John Overton), freshman Michael Breen (Hazlet/Raritan), sophomore Joseph Carlin (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Tech.) and sophomore Matthew Millemann (Hillsborough) finished 24th in the 4x400 relay (3:21.74).
Competition concludes on Sunday.
