Rider at Lehigh Invitational – Day One
BETHLEHEM, PA—The Rider University golf team is competing at the two-day, 36 hole Lehigh Invitational, October 21-22.
The 12-team tournament is taking place at the Saucon Valley Country Club, on Grace Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a par-72, 7091 yard venue.
On Friday, Rider shot an opening round 315 and is in 12th place. Host Lehigh University opened with a 297 and leads the field by one shot over Bucknell University (298) and St. John’s University (298).
Rounding out the top five is Iona College (299) and Fordham University (302).
The top performer for the Broncs on Friday was senior Parker Mann (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) who scored a round of 76 and he is tied for 20th place out of 66 golfers after 18 holes.
Senior Aaron Simone (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) is tied for 39th after play on Friday, shooting a round of 78.
Sophomore Eder Moreno (Madrid, Spain/Santa Helena) shot an opening round of 80 and is tied for 50th place with 18 holes to go and freshman Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) is 55th, shooting an 81.
Senior Sam DiGaetano (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) had an opening round 84 and is in 64th place.
Weather permitting, the final round of the fall season tees off at 8:30am on Saturday.
