Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Meet

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—In a likely preview of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships that will take place at the end of February, 2017, the Rider University men prevailed over Marist College with the Red Fox women defeating Rider on Saturday evening in Poughkeepsie.

For the Rider (4-0) men, it was the 14th dual meet victory in a row, a streak dating back to the 2014-15 season.

The Bronc men were led by junior Zack Molloy (Toms River/Toms River HS North) who won the 100 free (46.19), 200 free (1:41.84) and 500 free (4:40.70).

Molloy was named the MAAC Male Swimmer of the Week for winning two events and swimming on a winning relay in the Bronc victory over Lehigh last Saturday.

For the Rider women, junior Julianna Runk (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) was a winner in the 200 IM (2:17.92) and freshman Natalie Carter (Yucaipa, CA/Riverside City) emerged victorious in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.01.

Also for the Rider men, freshman Justin Carey (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) won the 100 back (50.21), 200 back (1:53.26) and 100 fly (50.31), the second week in a row that the Rider rookie won three events.

Molloy also won with a time of 3:06.36.

Carter, senior Jacquelynn Parker, freshman Olivia Iswalt (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) and senior Ariana Palmer (Burlington/Burlington Township) won the women’s 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.10.

The Rider men have now won 14 of 26 meets all-time against Marist including the last 10 in a row, a streak that began in 2007-08.

The Red Fox women have defeated the Broncs seven times in a row and hold a 17-9 all-time series lead with the last Rider win coming during the 2009-10 season.

The Rider men have won five MAAC Championship meets in a row while the Marist women are the six-time defending MAAC Champions.

Rider travels to Delaware to take on La Salle University and the host Blue Hens on November 12 in a tri-meet.  Both the Explorers and Blue Hens were the last teams to defeat the Rider men with that meet contested on November 8, 2014.
