LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University track and field team had competitors at two events on Saturday afternoon. The Broncs sent student-athletes to both the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell and the Chester Quarry Classic at Widener University.

At Bucknell, junior Sara Gardner (Holland Township, NJ/Mount St. Mary's/Delaware Valley) continued to impress during the outdoor campaign, winning the 100M hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 14.01.

At the Chester Quarry Classic, Lexie Fraction (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had a big day for the Broncs. The junior won both the 100M hurdles and the 100 meters. In the hurdles she finished with a winning time of 14.84 and she crossed the finish line in the 100 meters at 12.49.

Christin Patrick (East Orange, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) also won two events at Widener, finishing in first-place in both the 110M hurdles and the high jump. Patrick finished with a mark of 14.81 in the hurdles and he had a leap of 1.90M in the high jump.

NOTES & QUOTES
“The highlight of day two at Bucknell was Gardner’s performance in the 100M hurdles,” Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer said. “She has been working really hard on some of the technical aspects of her race and it paid off today. There was a headwind that slowed the times, but she beat some good hurdlers today.”

“The Chester Quarry Classic produced many top level marks for the Broncs today,” Hamer added. “We were very good in the sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws. We won many events, hit many qualifying marks, and set many PRs. I am very excited after today's meet.  It shows how important it is to get great weather and that will provide the vehicle for great performances.”

Lexie Fraction had a real nice day winning the 100H and the 100 meters,” Hamer noted. “She has great ability and this will give her a nice confidence boost moving forward in the season. Christin Patrick was very good in getting the IC4A mark and winning the 110H along with wining the high jump today.  The men's 400 meter runners had a really good day individually and in the relay. Malko won and got the IC4A mark and also was big leg on the winning IC4A qualifying relay. He is really starting to come around after a tough indoor season with some injuries. The throws groups was outstanding in their events today. They are really starting to throw some big marks that will be very helpful if we can replicate this during the championship season.”

“One of our main focal points for this meet was to stay consistent with our performances and I really believe we accomplished that today,” Hamer added. “We had many athletes step up and continue their standout efforts from this season and a few have some breakthrough performances. We will look to continue his at the highly competitive Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton next weekend.”

- At Bucknell, Peri Pavicic finished 11th in the 3,000M run with a PR time of 10:32.62.
- At Bucknell, Brook Wilson came in 19th in the 800M run with a mark of 1:54.01.
