Played for Clair Bee teams of 1928-29 and 1929-30 seasons, which posted records of 18-3 and 16-3, respectively. The latter team was the first in college basketball history to score 1000 points. In 1928-29, Zara led the East in scoring until the final game of the regular season (edged by Hyatt of the University of Pittsburgh). Also a baseball player in college, he is a member of the Rider Basketball Booster Club Hall of Fame.
