Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University women's tennis team wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference loss to Marist College on Friday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
"I think that the doubles victory for Roche and Caravaglio was one of the best played doubles matches the entire spring," said head coach Ed Torres. "I teamed them together since they will be partners next season in number one doubles. They played a very good match against a very strong team."
In singles play, Caravaglio (third singles) and senior Tricia Ashmore (Sparta) (second singles) each won five games before losing in straight sets.
"The top three singles did well," said Torres. "Marist was a little more steadier in their play. We improved this season and even though we didn't win as many as you would have liked, we got better as the season went along."
The Rider men's tennis team wraps up the 2011-12 regular season with a MAAC match at Saint Peter's College on Tuesday.
"Marist is one of the best two teams (along with Fairfield) in the conference," said Torres. "I think the Red Foxes have a chance to avange their loss to the Stags from earlier this season in the playoffs. They are playing well right now."
