Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

RIVERSIDE, N.Y.--The Rider University volleyball team remained winless in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, losing at Manhattan (8-8, 3-2 MAAC) 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Jaspers won 25-18, 25-12, 25-15.

For Rider (6-7, 0-4 MAAC) sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 17 assists with senior Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central Regional) adding 12 digs.

"We are still lacking that killer instinct," said head coach Christopher Feliciano.  "When a punch is thrown by the opponent, we don't respond and hit back,  We seem like we are afraid to compete at the highest levels and if that happens, we will never know how good we can really be."

Rider was out-hit .386 to .077.

"I was happy with the play of (sophomore) Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) said Feliciano.  "She did her best to rally the troops but couldn't do it by herself."

Webber finished with five kills, three assists and three digs.

Rider and Manhattan meet again October 6.

After seven straight matches on the road, Rider returns to Alumni Gymnasium to face Fairfield on Saturday at 1pm.  The Broncs are undefeated (3-0) at home this season.

"We'll be happy to be home again," Feliciano said.
