Broncs Back in Alumni Gymnasium This Weekend
LAWRENCEVILLE--You can go home again.
After seven matches in a row on the road, the Rider University volleyball team returns home to Alumni Gymnasium this weekend, taking on Fairfield University on Saturday and Iona College Sunday.
Both Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches start at 1pm.
Rider (6-7, 0-4 MAAC) is undefeated on the Lawrenceville campus this season, bringing a 3-0 'home' record into the weekend. Two of the matches were held in Rider's Student Recreation Center (wins over Howard and Fairleigh Dickinson) while Alumni Gym was renovated and the Broncs christened the new look Broncs' Zoo with a 3-0 win over Providence on September 4 before a Code Cranberry crowd of over 400 fans.
The Broncs are led by sophomore tri-captain Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) who is averaging 2.61 kills per set, senior tri-captain Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) with 4.98 digs per set and sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) who is averaging 6.40 assists per set.
Gajewski, the MAAC Libero of the Week for August 27-September 2, enters the weekend needing just 35 digs to reach the 1,000 dig plateau.
Fairfield (8-7, 3-2 MAAC) enters play coming off a 3-0 win at Marist College Wednesday evening.
Iona is 5-9 overall but 3-0 in the MAAC and the Gaels travel to Baltimore to face Loyola University Maryland on Saturday before heading north to play the Broncs on Sunday.
