Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University volleyball team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Fairfield University on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gymnasium.

"We need to learn to be disciplined at all times and not when we choose to be," said head coach Christopher Feliciano who saw the Broncs drop their fifth straight match.  "When they stick to the game plan, we are hard to beat and when we revert back, anyone can come in here and beat us.  It's a simple equation."

The Stags prevailed 25-23, 25-14, 25-20 in a match that featured 19 ties and seven lead changes.

For Rider (6-8, 0-5 MAAC), sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 19 assists with senior Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) adding 10 digs.

Also for the Broncs, freshman Brandie Hill (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) had six digs and three assists.

"Brandie did a nice job coming in and gave us a spark off the bench," said Feliciano.  "She is going to be a nice player."

The Broncs were out-hit .255 to .164.

This was Rider's first home loss of the 2012 season.

Rider and Fairfield meet again November 3 in Connecticut.

Rider hosts Iona College on Sunday in a MAAC match at 1pm.
