Rider Home Saturday and Sunday
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University volleyball team hosts Manhattan College on Saturday and Saint Peter's University on Sunday in a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches.
Both events begin at 1pm in Alumni Gymnasium on the Lawrenceville campus.
Rider (7-8, 1-5 MAAC) enters play with a 4-1 record on the home court, including wins over Howard, Fairleigh Dickinson, Providence and MAAC-rival Iona.
The Broncs are led by sophomore tri-captain Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) who is averaging 2.56 kills per set, sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) with 6.57 assists per set and senior tri-captain Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) who is averaging 5.34 digs per set. Gajewski is third in the MAAC and 24th in the nation in digs per set.
Amatulli picked up career assist 1,000 and Gajewski picked up career dig 1,000 in a five-set win against Iona this past Sunday.
The Broncs are also led by senior tri-captain Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) who is 232nd nationally in hitting percentage (.297). Nagy leads Rider in blocking this season with 44.
Manhattan (9-9, 4-3 MAAC), enters play coming off a 3-1 home loss to Canisius on September 30. The Jaspers had won five in a row at home prior to the loss against the Golden Griffins, including a win over Rider on September 26.
Saint Peter's (1-19, 0-6 MAAC) has lost 18 straight matches and enters the weekend with a MAAC match at Loyola Maryland on Saturday.
Rider defeated Saint Peter's three times last season, including a 3-0 win in Alumni Gym on September 13, 2011 and the Broncs won two of three matches against the Peahens in 2010.
