Rider's Skinner Honored by CAA
LAWRENCEVILLE-Before ever taking the mat in a Rider University singlet, Patrick Skinner has already been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association.
Skinner, a freshman from Freeport, NY, was one of 10 wrestlers named to the 2012-13 CAA Preseason All-Freshman team.
"Pat is a young student-athlete who has accomplished much in his short career in the sport of wrestling," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor, who has produced 13 All-Americans at Rider.
Skinner comes to Rider from Kellenberg Memorial High School, where he was twice a New York State Place Winner.
"He placed twice in the always tough New York State Championships and was twice an All American in the High School National Championships," Taylor said. "We believe that due to his late start his best years may be ahead of him."
Skinner placed third and fourth at New York States for Kellenberg Memorial High School and was twice a NHSCA All-American.
Skinner gets his first taste of intercollegiate competition November 11 when the Broncs take part in the Binghamton Open.
