Broncs Host Loyola Saturday
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University women's soccer team looks to extend its winning streak to three games when it hosts perennial conference power Loyola Saturday at 1pm on the Ben Cohen Field.
The Broncs (7-3-2, 2-2 MAAC) have been led by their defense, which is second in the conference in both goals against average (11 in 12 games) and shutouts (five).
Rider senior goalkeeper Jenn Nichols (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) leads the conference in shutouts (five) and is third in the MAAC in both save percentage and goals against average.
Offensively, senior Abi Cottam (Leominster, England/Ludlow), Rider's career leader in assists, leads the conference with five assists this season.
Loyola (7-4-3, 3-1 MAAC) has the most MAAC Titles (nine) and the most MAAC Tournament appearances (17) among all of the teams in the conference.
The Broncs lost 3-1 at Loyola last year. Rider defeated Loyola for the first time ever in 2010 in the regular season finale. The Greyhounds hold a 17-1-2 advantage in the series, which includes four wins in postseason and a tie in the MAAC semifinals with Loyola advancing on penalty kicks.
The women's soccer team has three home games remaining. After Loyola this Saturday Rider hosts Canisius October 19 and Niagara October 21 on Senior Day.
