STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.--The Rider University women's tennis team lost a non-conference match at Wagner College on Saturday.

The Seahawks won the match 5-2.

For Rider, senior Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles with freshman Cynthia Vlad (North Hunterdon) posting a 6-4, 6-0 win at third singles.

"It was a close match," said head coach Ed Torres.  "We lost the second singles in a tie-breaker and we couldn't win the doubles point.  That was really the key to the match, as well as not winning at the bottom of the lineup."

Both the Rider men's and women's tennis teams travel to Philadelphia to face Drexel on Monday.
