Rider at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON-The Broncs competed cross-town at the Princeton Invitational and the Rider men placed 12th of 24 teams and the Rider women were 14th of 25 teams.

"On the men's side we competed really well," said Rider head coach Bob Hamer.  "I think almost everyone on the team had a PR (personal record) today."

For the Rider men sophomore Anthony Dentino (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed fifth overall among the 212 runners, covering the 5.0 mile course in 24:23. "Anthony ran fantastic," Hamer said.  "He got out there with the leaders and fought hard. The top two only left him in the last mile. He ran a tremendous race."

For the Rider women senior Megan Elgin (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) placed 12th overall among the 219 runner, covering the 3.1 mile course in 22:04. "Meg competed well," Hamer said. "She's on a role and she's confident because she has developed into a top notch runner this fall."

Rider senior Nicole Tassello (Suffern, NY/Suffern) placed 46th (22:42). Team-wise I thought we could have done better but Meg and Nicole really ran well," Hamer said.

Also for the Rider men senior Sean Donohue (Cliffwood Beach, NJ/Matawan) was 59th overall (25:19), junior Corey O'Neill (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) was 68th (25:25), sophomore Nasser Zayer (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) was 95th (25:44) and senior Sean McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, PA/La Salle) was 96th (25:44).

Senior Paige McAtee (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was 82nd (23:14) for the women, freshman Nicolette Mateescu (Kendell Park, NJ/South Brunswick) was 103rd (23:33) and senior Erin Fitzgibbons (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) was 109th (23:35).

The Broncs next compete in Florida at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, held October 27 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World, will be televised on ESPN3.  "We're on target," Hamer said. "Everybody is healthy and hitting their stride."
