Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

LAWRENCEVILLE--In a match that featured 27 ties and eight lead changes, the Rider University volleyball team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Loyola Maryland 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gymnasium.

The 'Hounds won 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, handing Rider (10-11, 4-8 MAAC) only its second home loss of the 2012 season.

"When the coaching staff puts together a scouting report and the team doesn't follow it, it is a recipe for losing," said head coach Christopher Feliciano.  This is not acceptable and we are not happy about the loss today."

For Rider, senior Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) and junior Bridget Sheerin (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist) each had 11 kills with senior Brittany Gajewski (Whitehouse Station/Hunterdon Central) and sophomore Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) each adding 22 digs.

Nagy also had four blocks for the Broncs.

The Broncs out-hit Loyola .200 to .183.

Also for Rider, sophomore Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 13 assists and 10 digs with junior Meghan Bartsch (Cranford) compiling 19 assists and five digs.

Loyola defeated Rider 3-2 on September 7 in Baltimore and swept the season series with today's win.

The match was Rider's annual 'Dig Pink' effort to raise awareness and donations in the fight against cancer.  Donations raised at today's match benefited the American Cancer Society.

Rider travels to Delaware State for a non-conference match on  October 25.
