Playoff Implications for Men's Soccer and Field Hockey
The men's soccer team will try to keep its playoff hopes alive and the field hockey team will try to win another regular season title Sunday when Rider's Ben Cohen Field will host a wet doubleheader.
If the field hockey team defeats Monmouth (7-11, 5-1 NEC) on Sunday (3pm) the Broncs will be the regular season champions for the fourth consecutive year and will host the NEC Championship Tournament November 2-3.
A loss and the Broncs will compete in the post-season tournament on the road.
Rider defeated Monmouth twice last year, 3-2 during the regular season and 2-1 in the NEC Title Game.
The men's soccer team is currently in fifth place in the 10-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (2-4-1) with two games remaining, both home. Rider is 2-2 in its last four home games. The top four teams take part in the MAAC Championship Tournament November 8-10 in Baltimore.
On Sunday the men's soccer team will host Saint Peter's (2-4 MAAC) at 12 noon. The Broncs beat Saint Peter's 2-0 in Jersey City last year. The last time Saint Peter's came to Lawrenceville the Peacocks won 5-1.
Between games on Sunday the field hockey team will honor its graduating seniors.
With playoffs and a regular season title on the line, Rider will host an important doubleheader Sunday. If you cannot make the games you can catch all of the action on the Bronc Sports Network at www.GoBroncs.com with live video streaming on BroncVision and live stats on GameWatcher.
