Rider vs. NJIT - Home Opener Tonight
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University women's basketball team will face the New Jersey Institute of Technology tonight at 7pm in the 2012 home opener in Alumni Gymnasium.
Rider(1-0) is coming off a 62-50 win at Stony Brook on Friday evening as the Broncs were led by senior Sironda Chambers (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech.) who had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Also for the Broncs against the Seawolves, junior MyNeshia McKenzie (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)) added 16 points and nine rebounds as Rider won its season opener for the second year in a row.
McKenzie was named to the preseason All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Second Team after earning All-MAAC Third Team honors as a sophomore and All-MAAC Rookie honors as a freshman.
NJIT (0-1) is coming off a 69-66 loss at Seton Hall on Friday night.
Rider leads the all-time series against the Highlanders 1-0, having won 60-50 at Fleisher Athletic Center in Newark on December 11, 2011, behind 14 points and 10 rebounds from McKenzie.
