Rider's Lindsey MAAC Player of Week
LAWRENCEVILLE-- Rider University's Nurideen Lindsey (Philadelphia, PA/Overbrook) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for all games played the first week of the 2012-13 season.
A 6'3", 180 pound junior guard, Lindsey led Rider to victory over Robert Morris in his Rider debut.
A transfer from St. John's, Lindsey compiled 26 points and five assists in Rider's 79-54 victory in the season opener.
Rider trailed 8-6 before out-scoring Robert Morris 15-4, nine points by Lindsey, to take a 21-12 lead with 9:49 left in the first half and the Broncs led 40-27 at the half. Rider never trailed again.
Lindsey made 10 of 15 shots from the field, including two of four three-pointers, and made all four of his foul shots.
The Rider victory avenged an 83-57 loss at Robert Morris last year and gave new head coach Kevin Baggett a win in his head coaching debut.
"I'm very happy for Nuri," Baggett said. "I thought it might take him some time to get acclimated but it was like riding a bike."
Following Rider's 6am game Tuesday, televised on ESPN, the Broncs host Monmouth Saturday afternoon before traveling to the University of South Carolina, Southern Methodist University and two games in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as part of the Hoops for Hope Classic.
