Rider at ECAC/IC4A
BRONX, NY-The Broncs competed at Van Cortlandt State Park Saturday, with the men competing in the ICAAAA and the women competing in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships.
The women placed ninth of 11 teams at the ECAC Championships, while the men were eighth of 14 teams in the Championship race at the IC4As. "We did pretty well," said Rider head coach Bob Hamer.
For the men, sophomore Anthony Dentino (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) placed fifth overall, covering the five mile course in 25:18.2 to earn All-East honors. "Anthony was tremendous today," Hamer said. "He had a great year."
For the Rider women, senior Megan Elgin (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) placed 10th overall to earn All-East honors, covering the 3.1 mile Championship race in 18:13.6, breaking her own Rider record for the Van Cortlandt course. "She broke it by 21 seconds," Hamer said. "Getting top 10 today was fantastic. She easily had the best cross country season of any Rider woman runner, ever. That was exciting for us."
The Eastern Championships brings a close to the cross country season for Rider. The indoor track & field season begins December 7 at Lehigh. "We ended on a really good note," Hamer said.
