Rider, Canisius and Kids Thursday at Noon
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University women's basketball team will host Canisius College and Kid's Day at noon on Thursday in Alumni Gymnasium.
January is youth month and the Rider University Department of Athletics has announced that all kids, 18 and under, can purchase $2.00 tickets to any men's and women's basketball game and wrestling meet in Alumni Gym on the Lawrenceville campus this January.
To purchase discounted youth tickets for basketball games and/or the wrestling meet in January, visit the ticket booth in Alumni Gym prior to game time or purchase them online via TicketLeap, the official online ticketing service of Rider Athletics. Fans can access the TicketLeap link via GoBroncs.com. Tickets may also be purchased by calling the Rider Athletics Ticket Office at 609-896-5054.
Rider (6-7, 1-1 MAAC) enters the game coming off a 48-41 win at Manhattan this past Sunday. In that contest, senior Caitlin Bopp (Baltimore, Md./Inst. of Notre Dame) had 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds with junior MyNeshia McKenzie (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)) adding 18 points and eight rebounds.
Bopp is second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and 37th nationally, averaging 2.0 blocks per game and McKenzie is 82nd nationally in both free throw percentage (82.6) and rebounds per game (8.9).
Canisius (4-9, 1-1 MAAC) is coming off a 68-54 home loss to Iona College on Sunday.
Rider and Canisius last met on February 10, 2012 when the Golden Griffins won 61-58 in overtime in Alumni Gym.
The Golden Griffins lead the all-time series 26-7 and have won three straight over the Broncs.
The game is Rider's annual Kid's Day celebration. In conjunction with the NCAA, schools from around the country host elementary and middle school age children on the day of a game, exposing them to a day of activities and clinics on campus, culminating in attendance at a women's basketball game.
If you can't make the game, all non-televised home games can be seen on BroncVision and MAAC.TV as part of Rider's pay per view service powered by GoBroncs.com and the audio will be simulcast on the video stream with Jeff Nolan, Dick Wiseman, Dave Polaski and Jon Mozes bringing you all of the action. The game can also be heard on 107.7 FM The Bronc and on 1077thebronc.com via links provided on GoBroncs.com.
GameViewer (LiveStats) will also be available, free of charge via the link on GoBroncs.com and live tweets will be sent out which you can follow via twitter @RiderAthletics.
All Rider University staff members are encouraged to attend and free pizza will be provided by the Rider Department of Athletics, while supplies last.
