Rider's Coleman Honored by the MAAC

EDISON--Freshman La'tazah Coleman of the Rider University women's track and field team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Female Performer of the Week for all competition January 7-13 it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Coleman (Middletown, Del./ Appoquinimink) led Rider to a runner-up finish at the Army 6-way meet on January 12.

Coleman won both the 60 meter dash (7.68) and 200 meter dash (24.65).  Both times were Rider records and she qualified for ECACs in both events.

"La'tazah had an outstanding meet and she is really deserving of this honor," said head coach Bob Hamer.  "She is having a great season and I'm very excited about her early success."

Coleman's time in the 200 meter is currently 26th in the NCAA.

This is the second time this season that Coleman has been recognized by the MAAC, having been honored on December 11, 2012.

Rider runs again at the Terrier Invitational in Boston on January 25-26.
