Rider's Pereira Honored by College Sports Madness
Player of the Week from MAAC
CollegeSportsMadness.com has named Rider's Tommy Pereira as its MAAC Player of the Week for all games played January 13-20.
A 6'2" junior guard, Pereira (Nottingham, England/Canarias Basketball Academy) made his first two collegiate starts and was Rider's leading scorer in both games.
"Tommy's been stepping up," said Rider head coach Kevin Baggett. "If you give Tommy a look he's going to knock it down," Baggett said. "He was able to get a couple looks at key times and he hit some big shots."
In two MAAC wins, one on the road and another against defending regular season champion, Pereira averaged 15.5 points per game. He shot .579 from the field and 60 percent from three-point range, making nine of 15 three-pointers.
On Thursday Pereira scored a career-high 17 points in his first-ever start, leading Rider to a win at St. Peter's
