Broncs Picked Third in MAAC Preseason Poll

Lindsay, Wayman Preseason All-MAAC

The 2013 Rider University baseball team was picked to finish third in the nine-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches.

"Being picked third means very little to me since it is preseason," said Rider head coach Barry Davis, who has guided Rider to MAAC Championships in 2008 and 2010, "but hopefully we will finish in the top four and make a run at the championship."

Rider finished fourth in the MAAC last year, qualifying for the MAAC Championship Tournament for the fifth consecutive year.

Two Broncs, senior Ian Lindsay (Oaklyn, NJ/Haddon Township) and senior Adam Wayman (Wilkes-Barre, PA/G.A.R. Memorial), were named to the Preseason All-MAAC team.

"Ian and Adam are primed to have solid years for us," Davis said. "They have improved every year and this is the year for both to have All-MAAC type seasons."

Last year Lindsay was a First Team All-MAAC selection as a designated hitter, while Wayman was named to the NJCBA All-New Jersey Second Team last year.

Wayman led the 2012 team in hits with 63, runs scored with 36 and doubles with 13 and was second on the team in runs batted in with 30.

Lindsay led the 2012 team in batting with a .339 average and batted .375 against MAAC pitchers.

The Broncs begin the 2013 season February 22 with a three-game series at Norfolk State.
