CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Both the Rider University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference championships (ECAC) Friday through Sunday.
The meet was hosted by Harvard University.
After the final day, the Rider men finished ninth of 19 and the women came in eighth of 21 squads.
For the Rider men, junior diver Trevor Hiller (Galloway Twp./Absegami) took ECAC silver with a score of 295.95 in the one-meter event after placing sixth on the three-meter board Friday with a score of 249.60. Senior Julien Hensen (Delafield, Wisc./Kettle Moraine) placed fifth in the 200 breast (2:02.93), improving from an eighth place prelim finish (2:04.95).
"Hiller was awesome," said diving coach Eric Blevins. "He threw in a last minute dive and nailed it. This was a good meet for him as he prepares for NCAA Zones in two weeks."
For the Rider women, senior Kelly O'Connor (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) finished fourth in the 200 fly (2:02.12).
Also for the Bronc women, senior Addie Oswald (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) placed fifth in the 200 back (2:01.39), junior Melanie Leonhard (Piscataway) was ninth in the 1650 free (17:46.08) and freshman Taylor Shelley (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) was 16th in the 200 breast (2:28.68).
Both the Rider men and women finished fifth out of 18-teams at the 2012 ECACs.
