28 Broncs MAAC All-Academic

EDISON—28 members of the Rider University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team it was announced Sunday afternoon.

14 members each from the Bronc men’s and women’s teams were recognized for having a grade point average over a 3.20.

"We recruit athletes who succeed academically and athletically," said head coach Bob Hamer who was named the MAAC Coach of the Year for both the men and women.  "That’s the mission of Rider University.  We have kids who win major awards on the academic side of things as well as do great things on the track.  I want to win with good people and if we are winning and doing things the right way and that follows the mission of the university then we’re doing things the right way."

From the Rider men’s team, seniors Dave Brown, Sean Donohue, Nick Dorkin, Kurt Morrison, Greg Wesh, juniors Joseph Carlin, Billy Hackmeister, Anton Pokras, Matt Sampson and sophomores Nick Bencivenga, Anthony DeFranco, Anthony Dentino, Derek Lake and Nasser Zayer were recognized.

From the Rider women’s team, seniors Megan Elgin, Erin Fitzgibbons, Ashley Hunter, Paige McAtee, Erin McMullin, Mia Riley, Jillian Shutt and Nicole Tassello, juniors Gabrielle Randell, Corina Santiago and Katie Williams and sophomores Josephine Boyle, Taylor Harmon and Emily Ritter were honored.

Boyle (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) is a Liberal Arts major with a 4.00 g.p.a, Tassello (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major with a 3.89 grade point average, Zayer (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) is a Secondary Education major with a 3.89 g.p.a., Elgin (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) is a Psychology major with a 3.87 grade point average,Riley (West Caldwell/James Caldwell) is a Business Administration major with a 3.82 g.p.a., Sampson (Manasquan) is an Accounting major with a 3.79 grade point average and Hunter (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major with a 3.77 g.p.a.

Shutt (Lawrenceville, Pa./Williamson) is a Public Relations major with a 3.74 g.p.a., Lake (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) is a Finance major with a 3.73 grade point average, Fitzgibbons (Sayreville) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major with a 3.63 g.p.a., Hackmeister (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) is a Secondary Education/Mathematics major with a 3.50 grade point average, Dorkin (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff Manor) is a History major with a 3.55 g.p.a., DeFranco (Berkeley Heights/Governor Livingston) is an Accounting major with a 3.52 grade point average and Santiago (Ewing/Notre Dame) is an Accounting major with a 3.52 g.p.a.

Brown (Ewing) is an Accounting major with a 3.51 g.p.a., McAtee (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) is a Journalism major with a 3.51 grade point average, Dentino (Sewell/Washington Township) is a Secondary Education major with a 3.49 g.p.a., McMullin (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) is a Communication major with a 3.47 grade point average, Williams (Franklin/Wallkill Valley) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major with a 3.41 g.p.a., Donohue (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) is a Journalism major with a 3.40 grade point average and Pokras (Secaucus) is a Finance major with a 3.36 g.p.a.

Ritter (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Tech) is a Secondary Education/Biology major with a 3.36 g.p.a., Morrison (Deptford) is a Computer Information Systems  major with a 3.31 grade point average, Wesh (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) is a Business Administration major with a 3.31 g.p.a., Bencivenga (Edison/J.P. Stevens) is an Accounting major with a 3.28 grade point average, Harmon (Robbinsville) is an Advertising major with a 3.22 g.p.a., Randell (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) is a Psychology major with a 3.22 grade point average and Carlin (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Tech.) is a Chemistry major with a 3.21 g.p.a.
