Rider Fourth of 10 in Commissioner’s Cup
Men Second, Women Sixth
LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University placed fourth overall, second among men’s teams, in the Academy Bus Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup Standings for the 2012-13 academic school year.
It was Rider’s best finish since finishing third overall in 2008. Rider was also second on the men’s side in 2008.
“I am proud of the effort and the overall accomplishments of our coaches and student athletes,” said Rider Director of Athletics Don Harnum. “Many of our programs have been consistently producing competitive teams and we have a number of other programs trending in a positive direction.”
The Rider men placed second with nine teams competing in the 13 MAAC sponsored sports, paced by swimming (first), outdoor track & field (first), baseball (regular season champion), basketball (second place regular season), and indoor track & field (second).
The women placed sixth, competing in nine of the 13 MAAC sponsored sports, led by outdoor track & field (first), swimming & diving (second) and indoor track & field (second).
Two of Rider’s more successful programs; field hockey (NEC champion) and wrestling (CAA runner-up); do not count in the MAAC Commissioner’s Cup Standings.
