Rider’s Aiello ACBL All-Star

LAWRENCEVILLE—Fresh off his freshman season on the Rider University baseball team, Vincenzo Aiello was named to the all-star game in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.

Aiello (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) is the closer for the Trenton Generals. He has five saves and a 2-0 record with an earned run average of 0.67.

“Vincenzo improved each day in the spring and it looks as if he has continued his improvement this summer,” said Rider head coach Barry Davis. “He's had a solid summer and his numbers prove it.”

With 13.1 innings pitched, Aiello has appeared in 11 games, all in relief, and has 18 strike outs and just three walks.

As a Rider rookie Aiello saved conference wins over Manhattan, Saint Peter’s and Siena, helping Rider finish in first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season. In 16 innings he struck out 13 and walked six.

At Tottenville High Aiello was a New York City Mayor's Cup all-star as a senior in 2012.  He owned a record of 4-0 and a 1.10 earned run average as a junior with 10 saves, compiling 68 strikeouts in 55 innings.
