Men's and Women's Teams Honored for Academics
NEW ORLEANS-The United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the 2013 Division I All-Academic Track & Field teams and both the Rider men's and women's teams were honored.
“It was a great year on the track and in the classroom for the student-athletes on the team,” said head coach Bob Hamer who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Coach of the Year after leading both the men and women to the conference title in May. “To win two championships and also to be honored for their academic achievement is a great accomplishment for our program. I am very excited for them and it is a testament to their hard work and determination in all aspects of their lives.”
The Rider women's team compiled a 3.37 grade point average, tied for 49th among the 187 schools honored.
The Rider men's team compiled a 3.03 grade point average, tied for 96th out of 111 teams honored.
Last year, both teams were also honored by the USTFCCCA with the Rider women 10th nationally, compiling a 3.46 team grade point average.
