LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—The Rider University women’s soccer team will host Mount Saint Mary’s University Friday at 4pm on the Ben Cohen Field.
The women’s soccer team is 22-8-4 at home since the 2009 season began, including 1-0 this year and 16-7-4 since the turf Ben Cohen Field was built.
This year the Broncs (1-2) have been led by the play of senior forward Jennifer Meier (Sayville, NY/St. Anthony’s) and junior defender Becca Kape (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), along with freshmen midfielders Heather Maierle (Wantagh, N.Y./Friends Academy) and Priscilla Santos (Glendora, Calif./Glendora).
Meier has two goals and an assist in her two games played this year after missing the first game with an injury. Meier ranks fifth at Rider in both career goals (20) and career points (50).
Rider beat The Mount 1-0 last year in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The last time MSM came to Lawrenceville the Mountaineers won the 2011 season opener, 1-0. In their only other meeting, Rider and MSM tied 1-1 in 1997, Rider’s first year of varsity status.
This year The Mount (1-3) defeated UMBC 1-0 in the season opener but has lost the last three games, to Bucknell (2-0), Temple (1-0) and at Towson (4-1).
Weather permitting, all home soccer games are streamed on BroncVision, the pay per view video stream of Rider Athletics.
