Rider Hires Erb Assistant Coach
“I am very excited to have Coach Erb added to the staff,” said Hamer, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2013. “She brings energy, enthusiasm and knowledge that will be very helpful to the program. She will be able to work closely with our distance athletes and aid in the process of motivating and coaching them in the pursuit of their goals.”
Erb trained and competed as a professional distance runner at ZAP Fitness for the last three years, during which she placed 27th in the 2012 Olympic Trials in the marathon. Previous to her post-collegiate running career, she spent two years as a Fulbright teaching fellow in Austria.
“I am delighted to be part of such an accomplished program and to learn from such a great and likeminded coach,” Erb said. “Coach Hamer is a gem and has created a team atmosphere of respect and ambition that will take us all to even greater heights on the conference, regional, and national levels.”
Erb graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2008, where she earned 12 varsity letters and was her college’s Athlete of the Year as a senior. As a senior she was the NCAA Regional Cross Country Runner of the Year and an NCAA Champion in the 10,000m.
“She has been a very successful runner at the NCAA and professional level and that experience will be very useful in our program,” Hamer said.
