Rider’s Hareau 4x MAAC Rookie of the Week
Bronc Freshman Wins Award for Third Week in a Row
EDISON—Freshman Nicole Hareau (Montevideo, Uruguay) of the Rider University field hockey team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for all games October 14-20, it was announced on Tuesday.
This is the fourth time this season and third week in a row that Hareau was named MAAC Rookie of the Week.
Hareau had another solid week as Rider opened conference play this past weekend.
After being held scoreless in Rider’s 2-1 double overtime shootout loss at Bryant, Hareau scored Rider’s second goal in a 5-1 road win at Siena.
The leading scorer in the MAAC with 13 goals, Hareau is 13th nationally in goals per game and 30th in points per game.
“We are proud of Nicole’s efforts,” said head coach Lori Hussong. “She is improving and adjusting to the fast pace of the collegiate game. She is always looking to find a way to put the ball into the goal.”
Hareau was also recognized by the MAAC on September 9, October 8 and October 15.
Rider hosts Quinnipiac on Friday (4 p.m.) and Sacred Heart Sunday (noon) in a pair of MAAC games on Ben Cohen Field.
