Pink Broncs Host Purple Eagles
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—The Rider women’s soccer team will host Niagara University in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Wednesday at 4pm on the Ben Cohen Field.
The game will be part of Kicks Against Cancer, with fans being asked to wear pink at the game.
Rider (7-7, 4-4 MAAC) has won three of its last four games and is 5-0 at home this season. The Broncs have been led by senior Jennifer Meier (Sayville, NY/St. Anthony’s), freshmen Hollie Kelsh (Lancashire, England/Sandbach) and Michelle Iacono (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) and the return of sophomore Tara Ballay (Delran, NJ/Delran).
A Preseason All-MAAC selection, Meier ranks second in the MAAC in goals per game and points per game. Kelsh and Iacono have combined for five goals and seven assists.
A Preseason All-MAAC selection, Ballay missed nine games with an injury but returned to score two goals in Rider’s recent 2-1 MAAC win at Manhattan.
Niagara (4-11-1, 3-4-1) is 0-2-1 in its last three games. The Purple Eagles are led by Breanna Catipovic, who has seven of Niagara’s 14 goals this year.
Rider defeated Niagara 3-2 last year here in Lawrenceville. Rider and Niagara have met 16 times since the series began in 1997 with Rider winning just six.
Weather permitting, Wednesday’s game, as well as all home soccer games, will be streamed on BroncVision, the pay per view video stream of Rider Athletics.
GameWatcher (LiveStats) will also be available for free on the GoBroncs.com website for all home games and most away contests.
