Saturday Senior Day
The Rider University women’s soccer team will play its final regular season game this Saturday, October 26, at 1pm on the Ben Cohen Field.
Prior to the game (12:50 pm), six graduating seniors will be honored; Bridgette Bartkowski (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), Sarah Cirigliano (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), Becca Kape (Westfield, NJ/Westfield), Jennifer Meier (Sayville, NY/St. Anthony’s), Jody Sokol (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) and Carolyn Wiley (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape).
The seniors enter Saturday’s game with a career record of 35-25-10, including a 20-6-5 record on the Ben Cohen Field.
At 1pm Rider (7-7-1, 4-4-1 MAAC) will take on Fairfield (10-5-1, 6-1-1). The Stags have won their last five games and have clinched second place behind regular season champion Monmouth.
The Broncs are currently tied for fifth place with Siena and need to finish in the top five in order to avoid the extra playoff game in the 11-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship tournament.
In the MAAC tournament, held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, the bottom six teams play on Thursday, October 31.
On Friday, November 1, the three winners from Thursday play the top three seeds, while the fourth and fifth seeds also play each other, in the quarterfinals.
Saturday is an off day, and the semifinals take place Sunday. The MAAC Championship Game is Monday at 12 noon. The winner of the MAAC tournament advances to the NCAA Tournament.
