Rider’s Hiller Honored by the MAAC
EDISON—Senior Trevor Hiller of the Rider University swimming and diving team was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Male Diver of the Week it was announced Wednesday.
Hiller (Galloway Twp./Absegami) was recognized for all competition October 21-27.
In Rider’s dual meet win over Lehigh on October 26, Hiller won both the one-meter dive (328.35) and three-meter dive (355.05), breaking the three-meter Coppola Pool record (348.08), set by Brendan Cavallaro in 2010.
"Trevor did an amazing job this past weekend against Lehigh," said diving coach Eric Blevins. "He was finally able to put a complete meet together."
Hiller also reached the NCAA Zone Diving qualification mark for the third year in a row on both boards.
"Getting MAAC Diver of the Week recognition is a big honor for Trevor," Blevins added. "Now that he has qualified for NCAA Zones, we can concentrate on incorporating some harder dives into his meet program which will only garner him that much more experience."
As a junior, Hiller was a five-time MAAC Male Diver of the Week honoree and finished first in the one-meter dive (294.40) and second in the three-meter dive (260.40) at the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, earning MAAC Diver of the Meet honors as Rider won the team title for the second year in a row.
Rider is back in action on November 9, traveling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a tri-meet against La Salle and the University of Delaware at 10:00 a.m.
